Born and raised in South Africa, Willie’s forbears like many other South Africans, came from the Netherlands in the late 1600’s. After graduating from the University of Potchefstroom in the early eighties he joined the South African Defence Force during the conflict in Namibia and Angola. With Namibia’s independence in the early 90’s he left the military and qualified as a professional hunter from the Johan Calitz Hunting School and freelance hunted for a variety of outfitters until he established his own company in 2002.Willie has 20 years of hunting experience with rifle, bow and shotgun. He enjoys the whole spectrum of African hunting and is equally at ease guiding hunters on plains game hunts, bird shooting or stalking dangerous game. In addition to being a professional hunter as well as outfitter, he also is a fully qualified national tourist guide and tour operator and when not conducting hunts, you’ll find him in the bush, sharing his knowledge with tourists on all things African. Willie has extensively hunted and toured all the Southern African countries of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Apart from hunting, fishing and touring Willie has culled thousands of plains game animals on large scale for the export of venison to the European restaurant market. He has travelled extensively in central Europe, all the Scandinavian countries, the USA and Africa. Willie equally shares both Pete and Jim’s conservation principles and firmly believe that conservation in conjunction with sustainable utilization based on fair, ethical private business principles, where everybody involved must benefit from such effort, will ensure ecologically intact “pockets of wildlife” in the Africa of the future.
